January Arrangements in School.

3rd Jan 2022

Dear Parent/ Guardians,

I would like to begin by welcoming everyone back to school and wishing you all a very happy new year. School reopens tomorrow Wednesday 5th January.

Our aim remains to do our best to keep our school free from Covid and to protect the children and staff who work here. The new Omricon variant appears to be very infectious and we therefore need your support to prevent its transmission through the school.

  1. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell. The COVID19 symptoms that we particularly need to watch out for are a high temperature and/or new cough and/or loss of taste or smell. However, children are also experiencing sore throats, runny noses, headache or nausea.
  2. If your child has symptoms, they will need to be tested with a PCR test and can return to school when the original negative test result is emailed through to the principal smccreesh642@c2kni.net.
  3. The NI Executive has also announced a change to the rules on self-isolation for positive cases, reducing the period from 10 days to seven, providing the individual has negative LFD results on both days 6 and 7 with tests taken 24 hours apart.
  4. At pick up times, we would encourage all adults to wear a face covering and adhere to social distancing from parents and staff. Face coverings are a vital step in protecting all of us.  Only enter the school gates when your child's class is called. Please make the adult who collects your child aware of this.
  5. If your child is off school, please contact the school to let us know the reason.

Given the high rate of covid19 cases in our community, it is likely that  that school staffing levels will be impacted. Individual classes may have to switch to Remote Learning if we arrive at the regrettable situation where we cannot provide cover for classes. This may happen at short notice and all parents should ensure that they can access school messages on the Schools NI App.

Healthy Kidz after school clubs commence Monday 10th January. Clubs are bookable at https://healthy-kidz.com/product/healthy-kidz-afterschools-at-tannaghmore-ps-term-2-block-1/

PE will commence next week for all classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Your child's PE day will be the same as last term.

Primary 7 swimming commences next week and costs £7.50 for 5 weeks. Please log in and pay on the School Money App.

Our whole school community has come through difficult times since the start of the pandemic and I have no doubt that by continuing to work together we will start to see some light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Yours Sincerely

Seamus McCreesh

Principal
