Primary 4 History Trip

12th Jan 2022

On Thursday 20th January P4A (Miss Murtagh's class) & P4B (Miss McGrady’s class) will be travelling to The Palace Stables in Armagh.

P4C (Mrs Davey’s class) will go to The Palace Stables on Friday 21st January.

This is a living history World War Two trip to the Palace Stables in Armagh.  The children will meet a teacher in a World War Two classroom and experience life as evacuees, an Air Raid Patrol Warden and find out what it's like to live in the blackout and an American GI who will share his experience of life in the war.  Arts and crafts activities will include making evacuee labels and creating their own ration books.

Buses will depart from school at 9.05am to ensure prompt arrival in Armagh. As we will not be back until after lunchtime a pack lunch will be required. If your child is entitled to free school meals you will be able to order a lunch from the school canteen - jam sandwich, yoghurt, fruit and a chocolate muffin.  If you require a packed lunch from the canteen please reply to this message by the end of today.   As we have children with nut allergies in our classes please remember not to include nuts in your child’s lunch. Pupils should wear full school uniform and bring a coat as some activities require us to be outside.

The school has booked an extra bus, at no extra cost to parents, to ensure each class has a bus of their own.  We strongly recommend providing your child with a face mask for the bus journey.

The cost of the trip is £9.00 per pupil. Parents should log in to School Money to pay for the trip and to give their permission.

This trip has been enjoyed by our P4 classes for many years and always adds so much to their experience and learning of World War Two.

Kind regards,

P4 Teachers
