School Procedures for dealing with COVID19

25th Jan 2022

Dear parent/ guardian,

I want to thank our parents and carers for your patience and support yesterday as we came to terms with the unprecended numbers of positive cases. Almost 20% of our students and a large number of staff have tested positive. As we continue to manage this situation, parents can suppport us in the following ways;

  1. Do not send an unwell child to school. The symptons of COVID19 are very different with individual children.
  2. If your child has tested positive, count the day of the test/ symptoms as day zero. If your child has a negative test on day five and on the morning of day six, they can return to school.
  3. If there is a covid case in the household it is very likely that all children will eventually test positive. We are encouraging parents to keep children at home until the positive cases end. Please contact the school for advice.
  4. If children become unwell in school, we will contact you immediatly. Please ensure the school has at least three contact numbers.
  5. At present, COVID19 is very present in our community and school. If possible, please wear a face covering when you are coming to school to collect children and practice social distancing especially on the school grounds.
  6. Primary 2 children were given packs yesterday for their remote learning. If you have yet to pick up a pack please collect one at the school office.
  7. Children at home can continue to work on the digital platforms such as Accelerated Reader, Matheletics, MyON and Mathseeds.

Best wishes

Seamus McCreesh
